Capital Markets Union

In Brussels and The Hague, work is in full swing on the realisation of the EU Capital Markets Union (CMU). This ambitious project of the European Union aims to integrate and harmonise the capital markets within the EU. By removing barriers and better aligning regulations, the EU wants to make it easier for investors to attract capital and invest across borders for the challenges of the future. The ultimate goal is a fully integrated and efficient internal market for capital, which is complementary to bank financing and enables companies and investors to optimally benefit from the scale and diversity of the EU market.

The NVP is committed to this project together with its sister association Invest Europe.

Our priorities are divided into four main themes:

1. Unlock capital to realise the European transition.
2. Stimulate innovators and create an environment in which they can thrive.
3. Create a competitive and autonomous European fund industry.
4. Finance the ecosystem of the future to realise Europe's potential.

With these priorities, we aim to improve the investment climate of the Netherlands and the European Union and prepare ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead. Read the full report here: https://www.investeurope.eu/policy/forward-2024-2029/
