Temporary Trend or Structural Shift?
On Wednesday 11 November 2026 at 16:00, the NVP presents a webinar, in collaboration with Loyens & Loeff, on Co-investments. During this webinar Vilmar Feenstra and Michaël Maters will discuss the drivers behind the developments and the latest market trends, while also sharing practical solutions and insights drawn from real-world experience.
Background
Co-investments have evolved from a select privilege reserved for large institutional investors into an integral part of many private equity relationships. At the same time, demand is increasing for continuation vehicles, secondaries, direct investments, and separately managed accounts.
Notably, the growing emphasis on LP-friendly terms does not appear to be reflected primarily in traditional fund documentation or the broader multi-party relationship between LPs and GPs. Instead, it is increasingly taking shape through bilateral and transaction-specific solutions, such as co-investment programs, side letter provisions, and other bespoke arrangements.
Is this merely a temporary development, or does it signal a structural shift in the relationship between LPs and GPs? And in such an environment, how can GPs maintain equal treatment among investors while preserving operational efficiency?
